My research is based on fieldwork carried out at a selection of sites across Ireland. Principally the island retreat of on Lough Derg (or St Patrick’s Purgatory), Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s ‘holy mountain’ in Co Mayo and a selection of holy wells in the South West of Ireland.
